Travis Bugg
In Running Point, Isla Gordon (Kate Hudson) takes over the duties of her brother Cam as president of the Los Angeles Waves professional basketball team. Whereas she was previously the coordinator of charitable projects within the organization, she must now prove herself in a sports world dominated by men. The series shows how Isla faces various challenges, including having to deal with managing the players.
Chet Hanks is one of those players as Travis Bugg. The point guard is not exactly easy to work with. He is stubborn, causes problems off the field and is very focused on his passion for rapping.
Passion for acting
In real life, 34-year-old Chet has a passion for acting, but he was also raised with it. He was able to copy the art from his parents Tom Hanks and Rita Ora.
Chet had his first acting job in 2007. At the age of seventeen, he had a guest role in Dexter. Until 2016, Chet mainly had small roles in series, but that changed in 2016. From 2016 to 2018, he played Charlie in Shameless, and from 2018 to 2019 he played Blake in Empire. With the role of Travis Bugg in Running Point, the actor has landed another great job.
Growing up as 'the son of'
In various interviews, Chet has said that his parents always support him. Still, he did not always find it easy growing up with such famous parents. “There are many advantages, but it can also be very strange. I have had the opportunity to do many things that others cannot do. I have traveled a lot, stayed in beautiful hotels and traveled in private planes; I am very blessed in that regard. However, growing up as the 'son of famous people' is quite complicated,“ he once said in a YouTube video on his channel.
“I am aware that my songs have been successful because I am Tom's son,” he told Vice. “I appreciate the publicity I get, but sometimes it can lead to some pretty awkward situations (as the son of, ed.). When I was growing up, people wanted to be friends with me to meet my father. They didn't care about me.” As a result, he did not trust people easily.
Not a rich kid
Although his parents had enough money, that did not automatically mean that Chet received a lot of money. “People always assume that I can live a super-rich life, but that is not the case. In fact, it is quite the opposite,” he told Channel 5's Andrew Callaghan a few years ago. For example, his parents never gave him money, and he was not spoiled in any way. “I was raised very normally,“ he shared in the podcast Impulsive. His parents do, however, support him in everything he does. ‘Every step of the way, they're always there for me.”
Chet has a good relationship with his parents, and even once starred with Tom in a movie: Greyhound. ’That was a lot of fun,” he shared with the Late Show with Stephen Colbert.
Acting family
Chet comes from a real movie family. His brother Truman Hanks works as a cinematographer and has worked as a film loader or assistant on films such as West Side Story, Black Widow and Asteroid City. His brother Colin Hanks is also an actor and has appeared in the series The Good Guys, Fargo and Life in Pieces. He even received a Prime Time Emmy Award nomination for his role in Fargo. His sister Elizabeth Hanks, on the other hand, is not involved in acting or filming. She focuses primarily on her career as a writer and has had pieces published in Time, The Guardian and The New York Times, among others.
