Citrus fruits

Fruits such as oranges, lemons and limes are very good for your health. They are packed with vitamin C, fiber, potassium and healthy substances that support your immune system. They can reduce inflammation, detoxify the body and make your heart healthier. Grapefruit contains a substance called naringenin, which can be good for your intestines and may help you maintain a slimmer body.

You can add the benefits of citrus fruits to your breakfast by making overnight oats with orange, or adding mandarins as a topping to yoghurt with granola.

Apples

An apple a day keeps the doctor away! There's no lie in that, because apples are packed with fiber, vitamin C and antioxidants, and contain quercetin. This substance has antiviral and antibacterial properties and helps support your immune system. Quercetin can also help people with seasonal allergies, such as hay fever.

Apples are incredibly versatile for breakfast. Prepare it with a bowl of oatmeal and cinnamon for a warm breakfast, or cut it into wedges and dip it in peanut butter or other nut butter.

Raspberries

These small fruits are surprisingly full of various phytonutrients and because we also eat the skin and seeds of these fruits, we can easily absorb the antioxidants and anti-inflammatory substances. Like most fruits, raspberries are also a great source of vitamin C and fiber.

Raspberries are delicious with yoghurt or oatmeal, but you can also easily add them to a smoothie.

Pomegranate seeds

These small, fresh, sweet and sour seeds are packed with nutrients such as vitamin C, vitamin K, potassium, fiber, folic acid and antioxidants. They protect against damage caused by free radicals and are even being researched as a means of preventing prostate, colon, lung and breast cancer. What makes pomegranate seeds unique is that as edible seeds they contain much more concentrated antioxidants than comparable portions of fruit.

Pomegranate seeds are a delicious topping for a smoothie bowl, or to give a fresh, sweet twist to avocado toast.

Blueberries

Blueberries are an excellent choice for breakfast because they are extremely rich in fiber. They also contain important nutrients such as vitamin C and manganese. Blueberries also contain phytonutrients such as polyphenols, which are known for their antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects. These properties can contribute to a healthy heart and reduce the risk of chronic conditions.

You can add blueberries to your breakfast in various ways, such as sprinkling them over your oatmeal or blending them into a smoothie for a convenient and nutritious start to your day.

Kiwi

Kiwis are packed with vitamin C, which can boost your immune system. They also contain a lot of fiber, which keeps you feeling full longer and can also aid digestion. Did you know that you can eat kiwis with the skin on? Although the texture takes some getting used to, the skin contains many more of the aforementioned benefits.

Add a kiwi to your smoothie bowl as a topping for a fresh flavor.

Banana

Of course, bananas cannot be left off this list. This yellow fruit is easy to take with you, ideal for on the go in the morning. Bananas also contain resistant starch, which is not digested by our body, but is good for the bacteria in your intestines. Bananas also contain fiber, B vitamins and minerals such as potassium, manganese and magnesium.

Bananas can form a good basis for a variety of breakfasts, such as smoothies, pancakes or oatmeal. No time? Then take them with you on the go!

Melon

Both cantaloupe and watermelon are excellent fruits to add to your breakfast. Cantaloupe is packed with vitamins A and C, potassium and fiber. Watermelon is a summer favorite that contains more than 92 percent water and is rich in potassium, which makes it ideal for replenishing electrolytes after a workout. In addition, watermelon is also a good source of vitamins A, C, and B6.

Avocado

If you are a fan of avocado toast, you know that this is one of the tastiest breakfasts. Avocados are high in fiber and healthy fats, and this green fruit also contains vitamins K, E and C, and folate.

In addition to being a favorite for avocado toast, it also makes an excellent base for smoothies. It creates a creamy texture, but does not have a dominant flavor. Definitely worth a try!
